Recent partnerships and accomplishments of the Mobility Center of Excellence (MCoE) are highlighted in this 2021 Q3 newsletter. Updates range from iOS 15 upgrades, the latest from KP Mobile, and Kotlin 1.5 release. In addition, learn about the latest news on how GoKP and Educational Theatre are utilizing apps and our partnership with Health Plan Product, Service and Administration (HPPSA).

KP Mobile 5.1 Released


KP Mobile, our flagship app, is now on version 5.1 with many updates related to member chat, Coverage & Cost Center, recent dark deployments, and more.

KP Educational Theatre


Educational Theatre (KPET) contributes to maintaining non-profit status for KP through educating K-12 students and educators. During this pandemic, KPET shifted to deliver virtual live workshops by leveraging mobile technology.


Standard Portions

Have you ever ordered from a restaurant and ended up with a week’s worth of calories? Kaiser Permanente’s Research & Evaluation has received an NIH grant to develop and test standard portions in restaurants.


HPPSA’s Effortless Experience Event


The HPPSA’s Service Influencers partnered with the MCoE for a unique virtual brainstorming event to spread their service values toward an Effortless Experience for our members.


Kotlin Language 1.5 Release Update


The Kotlin programming language is used for Android development in many of our custom mobile apps such as KP Mobile and also in the Mobile Development Kit (MDK) reusable libraries.


Mobile Communities of Practice

The Mobile Community of Practice meetings allows for more meaningful contributions to the larger goals of the enterprise. You are invited to attend and contribute!

MCoE Reporting: Mobile App Portfolio

Did you know the MCoE helps KP teams develop, design, and deploy mobile apps? Our team of experts provide app kits and advice for dozens of custom mobile apps and hundreds of white-label and third-party mobile apps for our Members, Providers, and Workforce. Access our suite of reports – updated monthly – which include mobile app team and region info, install counts, and certified apps in production.

Accessibility resources

Everyone at KP is responsible for ensuring our mobile apps are accessible and inclusive. Using the new WCAG 2.1 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) published in June 2018, we’ve applied a mobile perspective to these standards and created mobile accessibility resources for our partners.
