KP Washington Mobile App Navigates to Virtual Care

New homepage to find care easier

The Kaiser Permanente Washington mobile app has undergone a major transformation to support the new Virtual Plus – Connect Health Plan, which went into effect January 1, 2021. The app now incorporates the “virtual first” care model, using guided navigation. Along with a refreshed look and feel to align with the Kaiser Permanente Flagship app, there are new features that make it easier than ever for Washington members to manage their healthcare.

The redesigned home page includes new navigation making it easier to find multiple ways to get care online or in-person. Users can quickly find care recommendations for an ongoing or new health concern and see all care options, including 24/7 Care Chat with a provider.

Additional features

New features include:

  • Expanded Medications section, with a link to Pharmacy Chat and an easier process to transfer a prescription or use Mail-Order Pharmacy (see screenshot below on the left).
  • Updated menu in the bottom navigation with a direct link to Messages that can be accessed throughout the app.
  • Integrated Video Visits which moved the video visit experience from responsive web to native app.
  • More visible home page link for Care Reminders to provide direct linking for Care Companion patients.
  • HealthKit and Google Fit have been integrated in KPWA iOS and Android apps respectively. Reading and manually writing health and activity data from these health apps creates a more seamless user experience.
  • Use of Face ID / Touch ID to safely sign in with additional security (see screenshot below on the right).
