Understanding Accessibility in Mobile Applications course is now live in KP Learn!

February 2020: Accessibility article by MCoE Consumer Portfolio Manager, Jenny Lu.

The MCoE (Mobility Center of Excellence) is here to help with all things mobile, not only for our Members but also for our Providers and Workforce. Last year, we hosted multiple Mobile Accessibility Workshops which led to the creation of our very first Accessibility course for Kaiser Permanente!

Understanding Accessibility in Mobile Applications is a web-based training module in KP Learn. This course is a general introduction to accessibility for project teams responsible for developing mobile applications. The purpose is to increase awareness of the different types of disabilities and the barriers faced by individuals with disabilities. The course also covers Kaiser Permanente’s legal and moral responsibilities and when in the product development life cycle you should consider accessibility.

From the Accessibility workshops we held last year, we’ve created a digital offering for all KP employees. Once you’ve watched this 30-minute training module, you’ll have a broader understanding of how KP is leading the way in designing with intention for people living with disabilities (situational, temporary, and permanent). Everyone at KP is responsible for ensuring our mobile apps are accessible and inclusive.
