MCoE Embraces Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
September 2020: Article by Anthony Campbell, Certification Manager
Lean Agile Leadership is one of the core competencies of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). This change in mindset starts with leadership to drive and sustain organizational change and operational excellence by empowering individuals and teams to reach their highest potential. This is constantly demonstrated within the Mobility Center of Excellence, Core Services team, where the team members have full autonomy to make the decisions to deliver products efficiently to serve their customers.
What is SAFe?
One methodology that is trending upward is Scale Agile Framework (SAFe). “The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is a set of organization and workflow patterns intended to guide enterprises in scaling lean and agile practices. SAFe promotes alignment, collaboration, and delivery across large numbers of agile teams” (Scaled Agile, 2020).
What does it mean to be Agile?
By definition “Agile is a term used to describe approaches to software development emphasizing incremental delivery, team collaboration, continual planning, and continual learning” (Cobb, 2020). In some cases, there is a thought that a company is agile if they are using a tool such as Jira, Version One, or any of the many options on the market. That is a misconception, as a tool does not make one agile, but more so agile is a change in behavior and mindset. A mindset that encourages a cultural shift that embraces uncertainty and adaptability.
